SELECTING HORSES
For the nominated race days as listed above you need to select ONE horse from EACH RACE THAT RACE DAY.
$10 VIRTUAL EACH WAY BET
For each horse you select you will have a 'virtual $10 each way' bet on that horse. Only ONE 'Virtual $10 EW' bet per race.
POINTS FOR WINNING HORSES
If your selected horse wins you will receive the Victoria TAB dividend x 10 units. For example if your horse wins and pays $4.50 you will receive 45 points towards your tally in the tipping comp.
POINTS FOR HORSES THAT PLACE
If your horse pays a Victoria TAB place dividend you will receive that dividend by 10 units. For example if your horse comes third and pays $1.50 for the place you will receive 15 points towards your tally in the tipping comp.
WIN PLACE POINTS
If your horse wins you get the points from the win dividend and the place dividend. For example if your horse wins and pays $10 for the win and $2 for the place you will get 120 points (100 points for the win + 20 points for the place).
GROUP 1 BONUS POINTS
Group 1 Races are worth 1.5 x the points scored in that race! For example if you get a $10 winner in a group 1 race you will score 150 points for that race ($10 x $10 x1.5).
RACE DAY SCORE
At the end of the race day your total points will be added up and calculated for that round to give you your total race day score.
TIPS CUT OFF TIME
All tips for a race day MUST be submitted via the online Racing Cartel platform by the cut off time of each race which is generally 5 minutes before the race is due to start. We will make it clear to all members about the cut off time. If you miss the cut off time you will receive 0 points for that race! When you submit your tips you will receive an email confirming your selections. You can update your tips as many times as you like right up until the cut off time of each race.
SCRATCHINGS RULE
One of the MOST IMPORTANT rules to take note of is the scratching rule. As all tips need to be in before the start of each race tips cannot be altered. In racing, there is scratchings and late scratchings, and it’s only fair that each legend in the competition has a running horse in each race. So if your horse is scratched you will automatically be given the favorite/ substitute horse nominated by TAB for that race. It is the way the cookie crumbles some time so please respect this rule.
